back in January i hosted my first giveaway for the year and i had over 30 participants. Christy from Always August Farm was the lucky winner!
scheduling our session was complicated because the weather refused to cooperate and we rescheduled twice because the weatherman is a lair. the day i FINALLY made my way to her farm she limped over to greet me. Christy had hurt her knee just before our session but this gal is tough and she was determined to do our session.
Knox and Ludo were groomed and ready for their shoot. Knox was a little naughty at times and wanted to eat his lead rope instead of pose but that just made for some great personality shots. Fat City "Knox" is a 16hh, 2011 OTTB and was bred and raced by Arrowwood Farms in KY. in 2018, Knox placed 5th at both Willow Draw & Holly Hill in the BN division.
Ludo came off the racetrack in Pryor, Oklahoma as a 6-year old in May 2018. Christy said the moment she saw his gorgeous trot, she knew she had to have him. Ludo is 17hh and a wild man but lazy under saddle lol. interesting fact, he has horns! when you pet his forehead you can feel two little knots. so cool!
despite it being so stinking cold i had a blast and can’t wait to visit again!
about Always August Farm
This beautiful farm sits on 23.6 acres on Habberton Rd, only 7 miles from downtown Fayetteville. Always August Farm understands what it takes to keep older horses, Thoroughbreds, and other "hard keepers," happy and in good condition. their barn is clean, well organized, quite and all horses have access to pasture or hay 24/7.
Christy has experience managing large professional equestrian operations, and has worked at large boarding farms in MA and SC. in 2009, she was the horseback riding director for the Girl Scouts of the Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys and was responsible for the care and feed of 23 camp horses and overall management of a lesson and trail riding program (she’s a rock star).
